Blog Post 6: Walking by Faith

This post features an interview from a leader of The Chapel in Akron's college ministry organization, Campus Focus.

This week I had the chance to interview Monica Murphy, the assistant ministry director for the student organization Campus Focus. Here is her story and how she got involved:

“I heard about Campus Focus my freshman year of college but was reluctant to go. It was something my sister encouraged me to attend and get involved with but at the time it wasn’t for me. I knew it was a Christian organization and although I said I was a Christian, I wasn’t living a life that agreed.

Fast forward a couple years, I found my way to CF. Once I started to attend consistently, I knew it was something that I could no longer avoid. God used this community to lead me and encourage my walk with Him.

The reasons I avoided Campus Focus my freshman year are the exact reasons why I should have gone. I thought I had to get my act together and have things in my life figured out before going but I was wrong. We are not a perfect group. I was flawed my freshman year and I am still flawed today. We welcome people to come as they are. In spite of our brokenness, we seek to love God, love others, and believe God has called us to be a light in a dark, lost, and broken world.

I would recommend this organization to individuals looking to grow in their relationship with God or simply trying to figure things out. I recommend this organization to those who are searching, hurting, confused, alone, joyful, content, etc. Campus Focus is a place where people of all walks of life with a variety of backgrounds can come and ask questions, experience the love of Christ, and discover the God who created them."
